The Effectiveness of Audiovisual and Posters on Increasing SADARI Behavior in Couples of Childbearing Age
Abstract
Low awareness of early detection of breast cancer causes SADARI practice to still not be optimal. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of audiovisual media and posters in improving knowledge, attitudes, and practices of SADARI in Couples of Childbearing Age (PUS) aged 30–49 years. This quantitative research uses a quasi-experimental type with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population amounted to 255 Couples of Childbearing Age (PUS), with a sample of 156 respondents determined using the Slovin formula and selected through purposive sampling techniques. The sample was divided equally into the audiovisual group (78 respondents) and the poster group (78 respondents). The independent variables of the research are health education media (audiovisual and posters), while the dependent variables include knowledge, attitudes, and practices of SADARI. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had met the validity and reliability test (Cronbach's Alpha). Data analysis was carried out using paired t-test and independent t-test with the help of SPSS software version 34.00. The results showed that the audiovisual group experienced a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, and practices of SADARI (p<0.001). In the poster group, a significant increase occurred in knowledge and practice (p<0.001), but attitudes did not increase significantly (p=1,000). The results of the independent t-test confirmed that there was a significant difference in effectiveness between the two media on, attitudes, and practices of AWARENESS (p<0.001). Audiovisual media has been proven to be more effective than poster media in increasing knowledge, attitudes, and practices of SADARI in couples of childbearing age, so it is recommended as a health education medium to support early detection of breast cancer.
